COUNSELOR IN TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES

*Arrive on time. Notify Kirk if you are going to be late or need to leave early.

*Motivate children who need help getting engaged or interested in an activity. This is especially important during a.m. drop-off. (e.g. soccer, tag, card games, friendship bracelets, stories, etc.)

*Keep an eye out for children who need to be sun screened or may require first aid.

*Assist Kirk and Co-Director by consistently taking head counts to ensure
all children are present.

*When escorting children to the restrooms, always arrive and return as
one group!

*Help prepare and distribute snack daily. This needs to be done quietly if an activity is being facilitated at the same time snack is being served.

*Help children stay focused during circle time. This may require you to sit next to a chatty camper and gently remind them to be an attentive listener.

*Assist with the preparation, facilitation, and clean up of any activity. Participate too!

*Accompany and assist Kirk and our Co-Director on Lake Anza hikes. Safety
is critical.

*Assist children in the dressing rooms at Lake Anza. Ensure children don’t leave important articles of clothing or other materials behind.

*Notify Kirk and our Co-Director of any serious conflicts between children. Help Kirk and the Co-Director to resolve conflicts between children. Always use a gentle tone of voice.

*Be alert. Notify Kirk and our Co-Director of potentially dangerous situations or anything out of the ordinary that looks, feels, or seems unsafe, such as poison oak, dogs off leash, strangers, etc.

*Always model positive behavior, demonstrate a good attitude, and remember to be patient, kind and empathetic with the children. Encourage children to do the same for you!

*Be a good role model! Remember that you are in a leadership role and children are looking to you for guidance.

*Ask questions if something is unclear about these responsibilities.

*Most importantly, HAVE FUN AT SEES THE DAY!

PLEASE NOTE: ALL CELL PHONES MUST REMAIN INACTIVE DURING
SEES THE DAY PROGRAM HOURS, 8:45 AM TO 3:45 PM. UNLESS THERE IS AN EMERGENCY SITUATION.
